Rue des Ponchettes

Today was the "Industrial Action" by the French Unions. There were no buses running, trains were few and far between and Air France planes were cancelled. Fortunately Dick was on Swiss Air and his plane arrived on time. However, for me, it meant that I had to ride a bike to the airport instead of taking the bus. It was a great day for riding though--sunny but very breezy making the waves the biggest I have seen them yet.

The  airport was only about 4 miles away and very easy to get to. There was a bike path the entire way. You wouldn't want to ride a bike in the streets. That would be risking your life.  Crazy drivers here!

Dick and I have rented a small 1 bedroom apartment on the Rue des Ponchettes while we are here before we take our trip to Italy. It's quite cozy with a great view of the Mediterrean Sea. It overlooks a a very busy and noisy street, but the view more than makes up for it.

Yeah for a washing machine. No dryer though.

Les Poissons
Tonight Dick, Becky and I went out for dinner that specialized in fish. Becky is a vegetarian and I don't eat much fish, except for the occasional fish fry back in Milwaukee--that hardly counts. Becky and I shared speghetti without meat.  We probably wouldn't have gone to this restaurant but there was a woman who stopped us to convince us to come in and who told Becky and me that we could order anything we wanted without meat;  but the waiter didn't seem to know that. But we still had a nice dinner. We especially like the desert-chocolate mousse.

Dick is already asleep-the time change-7hrs really gets you that first day.

We want to do something special tomorrow because Becky has the day off of school, but the Industrial  Action may continue. In that case, we may just visit some  of the local museums which Becky needs to do anyway for her French Culture Class.
