Cannes

Today I took a day trip to Cannes. Cannes, if you haven't heard of it, is where the big film festival is every year. You know? The CANNES Film Festival?

It took about an 1.5 hours on bus to get there but it was only 1 euro.

I met a few celebrities today. No biggie. Here's me and Austin Powers.

Oh and Spiderman let me borrow his outfit for the day.

They have cutouts like this all around the Festival building, Jack Sparrow, Tomb Raider, Ocean's 11, Star Wars... I wonder if when these stars come to Cannes if they stick their head in their own cutouts?

And here is my hand on Mickey Mouse's hand! Almost a perfect fit...almost.

During lunch, this old man saw that we were speaking english so he told me to come over and talk to his grandson who spoke english. He told me he would buy me a drink if I gave his grandson a "bisous," or a kiss on the cheek. No thank you! I'm glad my grandparents never tried to pawn me off to anyone while I was visiting. The man said I spoke french very well though, so that was a nice compliment at least.
Then we took a tourist train that goes around town and talks about its history. I had done this last year, but it's always an informative and quick way to see everything. It took us on the Croisette, which is pretty much the same as the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. We went past all the fancy hotels where the celebrities stay during the film festival. The tour also takes you up in Old Cannes where there is an old Castle. You can see all of Cannes from up there.

It was a long bus ride home but all in all it was a nice day in Cannes.

Oh and just to let you know...I am listening to the Avatar soundtrack right now! I downloaded it because I couldn't get it out of my head since the parade last night used it. Maybe that's why they used it. James Cameron payed them to promote it.  If only they had an Avatar cutout in Cannes!

I wonder how you say bye in Avatar language...
