Mocha Update

If you must know, Mocha has become a little wino over here in France. She is always having me pick her up something at Monoprix. What am I going to do with her?!
Mocha really likes France. She said she wants to go to the Build-a-Bear in Paris ASAP so she can go shopping. Just like her mommy.
This bottle of champagne was only 1,35 euros...gotta love France. Alcohol is cheaper than water here.

La police française

Tonight I had a very intense experience...

I was just peacefully laying on my bed using my computer when these two guys come bursting into my house. I thought that maybe the were just drunk but the one guy started yelling "Appelez la police!" I thought he was joking at first, but they didn't leave so I went over and saw that the one guy's face was all bloody and beaten up. I was like, "What is going on!?" The other guy said that they were boyfriends and they just had a little fight and that there was no problem. I was like, "Um, you just came fighting to my apartment, I think there is a big problem!" He kept saying, "There is no problem" and telling the other guy to come with him. I was in between the two of them saying, "No! He doesn't want to come with you obviously. You just beat the crap out of him!" The other guy didn't want to leave with him and I could tell. He kept just looking at me and not moving. I kept shouting into the hallway for help and eventually I saw the police running up the stairs. One of the other neighbors had called them thank goodness. The two guys ran back into their apartment but I told the police what had happened and which apartment they were in. I was blabbing away to the police and totally forgot to speak in French or at least ask if he understood English. I don't know. I was in shock. But then the police told me to go back to my place and they would be there shortly. They eventually came back and said everything was OK now...

Even after the police left though I heard shouting so I don't think the one guy got arrested. I went into the hall later because I heard talking and a bunch of people were leaving with the mean guy. They were his friends I'm assuming. That's good to know he is not staying here tonight.

After thinking about what happened, I realized that I don't even know how to call the police in France! They don't have 911 here. That would have been something important for them to tell us at school orientation, yeah?

I'm kind of in shock right now. I've never been a witness of a crime before. It's scary. I think everything is OK now. Let's just hope I don't run into that one guy anytime soon. He might be mad...

To make matters worse...their dog peed the hallway floor. Gross.
This picture is obviously not from tonight's events, but I thought it was funny because that's my street! We can just pretend I had my camera during this ordeal! In reality, I was way too shocked and hyperventilating! Definitely not capable of taking pictures.

What a crazy night!

PS. GO PACK GO! MNF or ETMF (aka Early Tuesday Morning Football). Let's kill those Bears.

GNO

Last night I went out to dinner with a friend. I finally found somewhere that had alfredo sauce!!! We were scavengers that night, eating everything on our plates. I even wiped up the extra sauce with some bread.

After dinner it was time for a girl's night out (aka GNO if you listen to Hannah Montana). We ended up going to a salsa club. I don't know how to dance salsa, but it was still fun.

And the night would not be complete without creepy guys. And let me tell you, there were plenty of them last night. I hate boys.
Today was a lazy beach day. Back to school tomorrow. I have my first french quiz in the morning. 10 years and I'm still doing passe compose and imparfait! I think the past tense is going to haunt me for the rest of my french speaking life!

Wish me luck on my quiz!

Barcelona

While I was in Barcelona I went to the aquarium and the Picasso Museum.

 I LOVE aquariums!

Penguins are my favorite animal! This little guy was right by the window!  I think he liked me.

Barcelona was interesting...but I decided to come back to Nice early. I like France so much more!

Travel Nightmare

Yesterday I was suppose to take the train to Barcelona. I missed my first train though. So I had to take a later train to Montpellier. Of course that meant that I would miss my connection and surprise surprise there were no other trains to Barcelona that night. I was running around Montpellier like a chicken with my head cut off. Finally I found a night bus from Montpellier to Barcelona! So I did make it to Spain at around three in the morning.

Lesson of the day: DON'T MISS YOUR TRAIN!

Marry me #12

This afternoon I went to the beach. It was finally a nice day once again. After the beach a friend and I decided to go to McDonalds because the monoprix was closed. Mostly everything is closed on Sundays in France...don't ask me why. It's annoying.

McDonalds...fast food, right? No! Not in France. Suuuper slow. At least they let me get a cheeseburger with out the meat! So we probably waited for 10-15 minutes. And they didn't even fill our sodas up all the way. Not gunna lie though, it was a good life choice for the day. It hit the spot! My first McDonalds experience in France.
Oh, and then I got a McFlurry for dessert. They use peanut M&M's instead of regular ones. That was a little disappointing.

Tonight I attempted to do some laundry at my house. Now remember back to the pictures of my studio. There was no washing machine. Yes, that's right I did laundry Little House on the Prairie style. I don't know if this was my smartest decision ever...
It's a very tiny washing machine. I think it got the job done for little things but I will most likely end up going to the laundry mat for things like jeans...bummer.

Number 3 thing I hate about France: No dryers!

Even if I did do my laundry at the laundry mat, I would still have to bring home a big bag of wet clothes and hang them up to dry. This wouldn't be as big of a problem if I had a drying rack or wires outside of my window...but I don't.

I created my own drying line...in my house.
Attempt #1
Attempt #1 fell.
Attempt #2
Attempt #2 seems to be doing a little better...for now.

Next problem of the night...how to watch the packer game? This ended up being the easiest solution of the day. Instead of searching for a stream I went to NFL.com. It was one of those eureka moments where the choir people are singing in the background and a beam of light goes right the part of the website that said, "Living outside the US?" Yes! I do!!!!! So apparently you can buy Game Pass and watch the games on your computer! Perfect! Ah i love the Internet and Aaron Rodgers. <3
So maybe today I failed at laundry...but you know who else failed today? The Bills. They failed at football today.

Packer 2-0 Lets keep it up!

Entrevaux

Yesterday I went on a day trip to a little medieval town called Entrevaux. There was a group of 13 of us from IPAG. We all met up and took the train. It was about an hour and a half ride.

Moto Museum

After walking around the town and having lunch we climbed to the top of the citadel.
Yup all the way to the top!
We thought it would be a fun/scary place to have a Halloween party because it was maze-like and there were so many little secret tunnels.

When we got back down we had time to kill before the next train left so some of us went to a cafe while others played soccer. There was a playground my the soccer field so I went on the swings! I love swings. I usually go to Hillside or Brookfield El. to swing, but yesterday I was swinging in front of a super old citadel in France! That's something new for the record books!

PS. Packer game tonight vs Bills!

Planet Sushi

This morning I had French culture in the morning. We talked about the french language. Nothing new to me since I have been studying the language for over 10 years!

Tonight I had dinner at a really good restaurant called Planet Sushi. It was so good! I would definitely good back.
We had to order another plate of sushi because it was so good and we were still hungry.

Then tonight I just went to a friends house. Not a very exciting Friday night. Tomorrow I am going on a school sponsored train trip. I hope it is more organized and better than the IPAG party last night.

All aboard.
